Blow For Everton As They Lose Lucas Digne to Injury

return to archives

Everton are set to face at least 2 months without their star left back Lucas Digne after he suffered an injury in training. The French left back has been in excellent form for Everton and also for World Champions France so far this season. Digne who created another two goals for the Blues on Sunday in their 3-2 win over Fulham, will now face an anxious wait to learn the extent of the injury before he can begin his rehabilitation.

Digne joined Everton in 2018 from Barcelona for a fee of £18m and has been an exceptional signing for the toffees, playing 87 games in his Everton career so far.

Everton will now look to young French defender Niels Nkounkou to step up and fill Digne’s shoes in his absence. Nkounkou has played in 3 Carabao Cup games for the Blues and made his Premier League debut in the 1-2 defeat at Newcastle United on his 20th birthday earlier this month.
