Blues celebrate ’85 anniversary

return to archives

Howard Kendall and members of his 1984/85 league-winning side will return to Goodison on Saturday to mark the 30th anniversary of their triumphant season.

At half-time during the visit of Sunderland, Kendall will be joined on the pitch by Graeme Sharp, Peter Reid, Colin Harvey, Derek Mountfield, John Bailey, Pat van den Hauwe and Neville Southall to commemorate the season the Blues secured a First Division and European Cup Winners’ Cup double.

Evertonians are encouraged to join the celebrations by donning retro shirts and getting to the ground early to pick up a souvenir pin badge commemorating that special season. The free pin badges will be handed out before kick-off in the Fan Zone and around Goodison Park.

In addition, Derek Mountfield and Pat van den Hauwe will visit the Fan Zone before kick-off to regale their version of events from the magnificent season, whilst classic highlights will play out on the big screens in the stadium.

Tickets for the visit of the Black Cats are still available – and can now be printed at home. The print-at-home facility is now live for supporters who purchase their seats online.

Booking this way is fast, convenient and simple – and takes away the wait for tickets arriving in the post or queuing to collect from the Goodison box office on a matchday. Upon entering the turnstiles on a matchday, tickets printed from home will be scanned by supporters in the electronic readers, thus gaining admission as if it were a normal ticket.

Tickets can also be booked by the more traditional way of visiting the Goodison Park box office in person, or calling into the Everton One at Liverpool Two and TicketQuarter outlets in the city centre. Alternatively, buy over the phone by telephoning 0871 663 1878*.

Please note that those who have already purchased tickets online for the game will not be able to go back and use the print-at-home option.
