Everton 2014/15 by Cumbrian Blue

Due to the overwhelming positivity flying around at the moment concerning Everton FC, well apart from certain media outlets that have written us off once again, I have decided to write a blog during this season. It is something I’ve always wanted to do, but for whatever reason it’s never got off the ground until now.

I am fast approaching 30 years as an Evertonian and have experienced the highs and lows during that time, but last season was something else under Roberto Martinez. I will go on record and thank David Moyes for building strong foundations after taking over from Walter Smith, but Roberto has taken the club to a whole new level. We are playing a brand of football I have not seen for many many years. To say I am excited what this season holds is an understatement, new signings bolstering an already talented squad which consists of experience and youth, with a Manager that conducts himself with sheer class and positivity.

Call it Déjà vu but I can’t help feeling that the first 3 games will end in draws, Leicester, Arsenal and Chelsea, under Moyes I guess we would take that but under Martinez there would be an air of disappointment if we accrued 3 points in as many games and that’s the difference in expectations which is largely down to Roberto Martinez.

My only concern at the moment is the lack of striker options that are currently available, in my opinion we definitely need one more before the window closes, someone like Loïc Rémy would do very nicely and someone that could share the load with Romelu Lukaku and more importantly score some goals.I personally feel this transfer window has been a huge success, with the signings of Barry, Besic, Lukaku and Atsu. It’s clear time has been taken regarding targets with quality over quantity and more importantly big players extending contracts before the season starts which will prevent the media promoting their talents to other clubs.

So hopefully I will have plenty to write about this season, can we finish top 4 or maybe after 20 years of wanting, lift some silverware which we all desperately crave and will certainly make some media outlets look rather silly in the process.
