Everton’s Chief Executive, Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale and Stadium Development Director, Colin Chong have thanked everyone who has had their say in the first-stage of the People’s Project public consultation which ended earlier this / last week.

The 19-day public consultation exercise, which was held between 15 November and 3 December, ran under The People’s Project campaign name and marked the start of the formal process which will lead to the submission of planning applications for both Bramley-Moore Dock and Goodison Park in the second half of next year.

Members of the public had the opportunity to attend a series of roadshows across the city region and were asked for their views on the principles of Bramley-Moore Dock being developed as the site of a new stadium for Everton as well as the Club’s plans for a community-led legacy at Goodison Park. For anyone who could not attend in-person, the exhibition information and survey were available online at peoples-project.co.uk.

Chief Executive Officer Denise Barrett-Baxendale said: “We are very grateful to everyone who has taken part in our first-stage public consultation for The People’s Project. We have had a truly outstanding response to our proposals.

“Our ambition is to create a new home for our football club which will drive new levels of profile, commercial opportunity and on-field success for the Club.

“At the same time, a new landmark stadium in an iconic waterfront setting coupled with our continued commitment to Liverpool 4 through community-led regeneration at Goodison Park, will deliver a significant social, economic and cultural boost for the entire city region.

“The People’s Project represents a unique opportunity for the city region by delivering a £1billion boost to the economy, 15,000 jobs and 1.5million new visitors to the city as well as regenerating north Liverpool.

“Over the course of the past few weeks, our intentions for the two sites, have been subject to the scrutiny of thousands of our fans along with people from the wider city region and beyond. Early analysis of the data we have captured, shows that our plans have been very well received by the vast majority of people who have taken part in the consultation.

“I’ve been delighted to hear from blues, reds and other football fans, as well people who don’t follow the game, who support our proposals and recognise the transformational benefits The People’s Project brings to the city region.

“We will be working hard over the coming weeks to analyse data and feedback we’ve received and look forward to sharing the findings in the New Year.”

The Club plan to release the findings of the first-stage consultation survey in February 2019, with the results forming an important part of the planning application process.

Stadium Development Director Colin Chong added: “Our first-stage public consultation followed our previous engagement with fans, Goodison residents and senior business, cultural and public sector figures across the city region.

“We’ve had many stimulating conversations relating to a whole range of different aspects of these two significant projects and have been very pleased with the response we’ve received so far. With the first-stage consultation complete, we now enter a busy period preparing for the next stage of the campaign.

“We know that Evertonians, as well as everyone we have engaged with, are keen to see our stadium plans and we are on-track to publicly present our designs as part of our second-stage public consultation in the summer of 2019.

“I can’t thank people enough for taking the time to attend the roadshow events and to have their say in our survey. Whether you are a blue, support a different team or don’t have an interest in football, your involvement and every single response is of the utmost importance to us.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to the second phase of The People’s Project consultation next summer when we ask for feedback on our new stadium preliminary designs for Bramley-Moore Dock and present our high-level plans for Goodison Park.”

Following the second phase of formal public consultation the Club intends to submit a detailed planning application for a new stadium in the second half of 2019 and, at the same time, an outline planning application for the redevelopment of Goodison Park that will see the Club continue its commitment to Liverpool 4.
