Remy or Wellbeck? Either Suit Me by Stephen Leary

I think we will all agree that we need another striker, for some simply as backup to Rom for others someone who can challenge Rom and possibly dis-lodge our £28 million pound record signing.

Twitter and other social media sites is full of rumours about who it could possibly be, the optimism tho for this brand new season is fantastic the best ive ever seen it compared to the usual doom and gloom. My own opinion is we without doubt need a “forward” not necessarily another number 9 tho, Rom will always be Bobby’s main man, we are not going to pay £28 million for him, only for the lad to sit on the bench.  There are two options in my eyes with Premiership experience and quality that could bring something different to our side.
Loic Remy – We all know about this lad, infact im near sure if an opinion poll on twitter was done he would most likely be the unanimous vote, hes quick, sharp, has good intelligence and most importantly knows were the goal is, with 14 goals in 26 appearances at Newcastle last season and that in a sluggish mid table Newcastle side he would without doubt in my eyes fit nicely into our set-up.
Loic Remy would not only bring goals but brings that something different to our forward line we do not have, hes obviously a different type of striker to Rom, but hes flexible too which is key for me.  He can play that number 9 role superbly well as we seen last season, but he can also operate both wide or inside forward roles whatever way you want to call that role, he can do it well and with ease, as seen in some of his national team games.   Remy brings goals and assists, the ability to be flexible in the wide roles to for me makes him a definite go get purchase if its possible for the club to do so. Lukaku, Remy, Mirallas, Atsu, Pienaar, Mcgeady, Barkley Naismith in our forward roles sounds and looks mouth watering and a player like him could easily be the difference between 5th-7th place and that coveted top 4 spot.
Danny Wellbeck –  Definitely and without doubt this will cause a hell of a mixed opinion amongst us Evertonians, i can hear some now screaming noooo and saying various other things in their feelings regarding him.  This is something i understand fully of course with just 28 goals since 2008 to his name, he doesn’t exactly fill you with a lot of hope like Remy does but again in my own opinion he could be an excellent choice.
For a start he would be a cheaper overall package to Remy, the fee may be similar or slightly more but in wages he would be alot less.  He is also similar to Remy in regards he can play the number 9 role, as well as operate the two wide/inside forward roles with ease like hes been doing for Man Utd and England.  Wellbeck is strong, quick, and i think extremely intelligent in some of the runs he makes on and off the ball, hes still young enough aswell for our fantastic manager to get his best and full potential out off.       Hes an English lad to and Bobby has stated many times the importance of us having a core group of British footballers at the club and in our starting 11.
For me its all about having different options, we all know were not a club who can go out and spend 100 million during the summer, we have to be careful and clever with our money, something i think our manager has and will continue to do well.  Flexibility is key having a player like the two above covers alot of attacking areas for us, and also gives us the option of going 3 at the back with 2 strikers on the pitch at the same time, imagine Lukaku and Remy as our front pair, frightening prospect isn’t it?  I have 100% faith that will will bring another forward in, and i do feel he will look for a kind of forward like these two who can be that flexible front man.  With Kone to return at some point and fingers crossed Barkley is more 2 months than 5, we will have as feared a bunch of forward players than any of the top 6/7 sides in the country.
All in all i think were in for another great season, i can smell a trophy too, we have a manager who will deliver and won’t rest until he does, NSNO, COYB!!
