KEAN + TRAORE OR MALCOM?

Alongside the current interest in Juventus striker, Moise Kean, Everton’s search for a left-footed right-winger appears to continue, with two names being more strongly rumoured than others. Either Lyon’s Bertrand Traore, or Barcelona’s Malcom could be playing in Everton’s attack next season. It seems as though Moise Kean may be Everton’s number one choice to be the new centre forward. As well as this signing, Everton could look to sign a new winger.

Despite the impressive performances of current Everton wingers, Richarlison and Bernard last season, the club are reportedly wanting to sign a left-footed right-winger.

With the lack of left-footed attackers in the squad, the signing of a player like Traore or Malcom would make sense, and provide a different option in attacking areas.

Malcom was heavily linked with a move to Everton last summer, yet instead made the move from Bordeaux to Barcelona. Since joining the Catalan side, the Brazilian has struggled for game-time, making 15 league appearances. During these appearances, he tallied just 1 goal, and 2 assists.

After having made such little impact, it looks as though the player could look to move on this summer, and Everton are one of the teams interested in him.

At just 22, he’s still very young and holds a lot of promise. He’s a pacey, skilful, and explosive player who’ll look to take on the fullback when on the ball, and make runs in behind the defence when off the ball.

Although his dribbling is perhaps his best attribute, shooting after cutting in, on to his left-foot is also very impressive. Shooting from distance, as well as cutting in from the wing are also frequent tendencies of the young Brazilian.

His reluctancy to track back and contribute to defensive work, may be a worry, especially if playing in front of a seemingly declining Seamus Coleman. The hard-working Richarlison certainly helped in the improved form of the sometimes struggling Irishman last season.

Because of his talent and young age, Malcom would be expensive, and probably cost around £35m-£40m.

Bertrand Traore has also been heavily linked with a move to Everton. Currently at Lyon, the French left-footed right-winger played more frequently than Malcom last season. He made 34 league appearances, scoring 7 goals, and making 2 assists.

Despite not being as quick and explosive, he’s taller, and stronger than Malcom. He’s skilful on the ball and likes to take players on. At nearly 6ft tall, he’s perhaps more suited physically to the Premier League.

Furthermore, Traore is only a year older than Malcom and would cost around £25m-£30m. Statistically across their careers, the players are similar, with Traore making 102 appearances in his career as a right-winger, and scored 29 goals, with 15 assists.

Meanwhile, Malcom has made 93 appearances in his career as a right-winger, and scored 25 goals, with 19 assists.

Both players would be great additions to the Everton side. Malcom is perhaps the better, and more exciting player out of the two, however would probably be more expensive.

An attacking combination of Bernard, Richarlison, potentially Kean, plus Malcom or Traore, would certainly be a dangerous forward line.
