West Ham 0-2 Everton

EFC Player Ratings

The other week after the Chelsea game, I said we were a weird club, yesterday confirmed that. That was inexplicably good. I have watched every minute of every Everton game this season and I have not seen us play this well. West Ham were horrendous, Pellegrini is a dinosaur, but let’s not take anything away from Marco Silva or these players. Notable performers were, Andre Gomes, Bernard and Richarlison but every single one of these lads could be argued to have been Everton’s man of the match. Let’s get into this anyway.

Jordan Pickford: 7/10

Jordan did not have a thing to do today. Kicking was alright and many of the long balls West Ham tosser into the box he dealt with.

Seamus Coleman: 8/10

Seamus is getting better every week. Yesterday he was almost faultless. Great assist for Bernard’s goal and got up and down all night. Defensively, Arnautovic got nothing from him, also made up we did not sign him, was horrendous.

Kurt Zouma: 9/10

Kurt was excellent. Won everything, absolutely everything. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think anyone from West Ham’s side won a header, or beat for pace all game. Great header too. Big goal as that made them flat. We probably should sign him shouldn’t we?

Micheal Keane: 8/10

Keane same as Zouma, though he gets one less due to him not scoring. Harsh? Probably. He was outstanding. Growing as a centre half each week. Really want to see this Zouma/Keane partnership grow and become the bed rock of our side for the upcoming years.

Lucas Digne: 7/10

Par performance from Lucas. He is a quality left back. My expectations of him are sky high due to the standards he has set this season. Zabaleta couldn’t cope with his overlapping runs. Love that Lucas.

Idrissa Gueye: 9/10

If Idrissa Gueye is playing for a move to PSG then he is doing a very good job of convincing them he is the right man for them. He breaks everything up, he’s just so good at the role Marco gives him. His passing is much improved also.

Andre Gomes: 9.5/10

Nearly 10. If his strike that was blocked had went in, I would have given him just that. He controlled the whole midfield, no one in a West Ham shirt could get near nor would they dare press him, because they knew what was happening. Strange, strange tactics from Pellegrini. I would give anything for Everton to secure Gomes permanently. Given the quality we have seen thus far, with a pre season, and we could have some player. Keep it up Andre.

Richarlison: 8/10

He ran these ragged. Richarlison is as much of a confidence player I have ever seen. When he’s  on it, he’s an outstanding player. I almost felt sorry for Aaron Cresswell until I remembered it was Aaron Cresswell and then all sympathy I had ran out.

Gylfi  Sigurdsson: 7/10

Sound from Gylfi. Slowed the game down and increased the pace and manipulated the pace of the game. Good to see from a player who is often accused of drifting in the game, not today. Decent from Sigurdsson.

Bernard: 10/10

Faultless. Fantastic from Bernard. So happy he got his goal today. Have been a staunch advocate of his since day one and I think now he is proving his worth and becoming a key figure in this Marco Silva team.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin: 7/10

Another astute performance from Calvert-Lewin. Growing in his role.

Subs:

Tom Davies: 7/10

Looks cool as ever.

Cenk Tosun: 6/10

Did alright.

Theo Walcott: 6/10

Did he touch the ball?

Marco Silva: 10/10

I want to talk about Marco. That today was tactical perfection from a 41 year old manager against a more stable Pellegrini. Incredibly pleased for Marco as this is going to buy him some time and allow him to establish his team for the future.
